Our History
Manitowoc Tool and Manufacturing, LLC (MTM) was founded in 1965 as Manitowoc Tool and Die, operating from its original location at 925 South 29th Street in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. The company’s initial focus was the design and construction of stamping dies.
In 1980, MTM relocated to a new facility at 4211 Clipper Drive in Manitowoc’s Industrial Park. This move marked the beginning of a strategic expansion into production machining and stamping, while maintaining its core Tool & Die capabilities. Steady growth across all business units led to significant increases in staff and multiple building expansions in 1980, 1983, 1988, 1990, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1997, 2001, and 2004.
In January 2006, MTM opened a new 35,000-square-foot facility on Expo Drive to support its growing tooling, stamping, and fabrication operations, as well as rising demand for turnkey services. Continued growth resulted in ten expansions at the Expo Drive location between 2006 and 2021, increasing its total footprint to 200,000 square feet.
In the summer of 2022, MTM broke ground on a second facility on Vits Drive in Manitowoc, adding an initial 50,000 square feet of distribution space. Ongoing growth led to an expansion in 2024, doubling the facility’s capacity to 100,000 square feet and transitioning the site to support both manufacturing and distribution operations. The Vits Drive property is designed for further expansion, with the potential to grow to nearly 500,000 square feet as future needs arise.
Since its founding, Manitowoc Tool and Manufacturing has remained a proud family-owned company, dedicated to sustained growth and innovation in the tool & die, stamping, and fabrication industries.
